Amazon Web Services is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join its Production Engineering team in Seattle. This role focuses on maintaining and improving developer tools for hundreds of thousands of developers, building real-time observability systems and AI-powered agents that autonomously detect, diagnose, and resolve production issues. The position involves owning critical services at scale, responding to security incidents, and contributing across the full stack including telemetry, CI/CD, and service lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
Own the operational health of production services end-to-end.
Build real-time observability systems that detect problems before customers notice.
Build agentic solutions that resolve issues without human intervention.
Respond to security incidents affecting real users.
Burn down complex service debt and build intelligent tooling for operational excellence.
Work across user-facing clients, telemetry services, CI/CD pipelines, security response, and service lifecycle management.
Requirements
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
