About the Role
Snowflake's Cortex CoWork team is redefining enterprise AI by building flagship products like Snowflake Intelligence. This Principal AI Engineer role focuses on agentic reasoning, NL-to-SQL, and enterprise-scale RAG, leading technical strategy, ensuring LLM reliability, and mentoring senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Define long-term technical vision for Snowflake Intelligence and lead architecture of multi-agent systems, tool-use frameworks, and self-correcting NL-to-SQL engines.
- Build automated 'hill-climbing' evaluation infrastructure to guarantee LLM performance across customer schemas.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align AI capabilities with business goals and bridge research-to-production.
- Design extensible context engineering patterns including advanced function calling and semantic layer integration.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers and lead cross-functional strike teams on high-stakes projects.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years leading deployment of LLM-based applications at massive scale.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of LLM orchestration, prompt optimization, semantic modeling, and building guardrails for non-deterministic systems.
