Redwood Materials is building a world-class ML-enabled battery sorting platform using computer vision and machine learning. The Software Engineer will own production systems for automated battery classification, from model training to deployment on the factory floor. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of software engineering and ML, with opportunities to generate patents.

• Develop, test, and maintain production software systems for automated battery sorting, including ML inference, image acquisition, and sensor integration. Train and deploy computer vision models for battery chemistry classification. Build and maintain APIs connecting ML outputs to downstream systems. Own observability and monitor model performance in production. Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows.

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 2+ years of industry experience with machine learning, preferably computer vision. Hands-on experience with PyTorch and OpenCV. Experience with production codebases and pipelines. Experience with ML experiment tracking (e.g., MLflow).

• Familiarity with edge deployment and model optimization (quantization, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime). Experience with OCR, image classification pipelines, or multi-sensor fusion. Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
