Pfizer is seeking a Senior Applied AI and Machine Learning Scientist to lead the development of AI capabilities within its Internal Medicine Research Unit. The role focuses on translating advances in foundation models, agentic systems, and multimodal AI into reusable scientific tools that enhance drug discovery and decision-making. This position requires deep technical expertise in AI combined with strong scientific judgment in computational biology and life sciences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical evaluation and development of AI capabilities for the AIM2 Discovery Center.
- Apply large language models, agentic systems, and multimodal AI to high-value scientific problems in internal medicine research.
- Define governance, evaluation standards, and guardrails for AI-built capabilities.
- Partner with biological line teams and digital partners to ensure AI solutions are trusted, scalable, and adopted.
- Provide expert guidance on methodological rigor, provenance, and responsible use of AI in scientific workflows.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred, or Master's/Bachelor's with significant experience) in Computer Science, ML, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in applied AI or data science.
