[Remote] Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Agentic AI

Zillow is building an Agentic AI team to transform the real estate experience using AI assistants. As Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you'll lead the development of large-scale, fault-tolerant multimodal AI agents, including voice and deep research experiences. You'll bridge applied research and production engineering while ensuring trust, safety, and reliability across highly visible AI systems.

• Develop large-scale, fault-tolerant multimodal agentic experiences for millions of customers
• Design and build agent interaction modes, including Voice AI and Deep Research
• Create robust evaluation frameworks, tracing systems, and safety guardrails
• Drive innovation by translating emerging agentic paradigms into products
• Lead multi-team initiatives spanning applied research and scalable engineering
• Communicate findings and architecture to executives and partners

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in CS, EE, or a related field, with emphasis on building products with frontier multimodal LLMs
• 5+ years deploying large-scale ML models, including 2-3 years building agent-based or multi-agent systems
• Experience developing dialogue systems with long conversations, context-aware tool selection, and compliant responses
• Experience building AI services at high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance for hundreds of millions of daily interactions
