Leon Capital Group is building an AI-native operating model within its Financial Services Group. This role combines owning the data platform and building the first ML models on top of it, with a deliberate arc from data engineering to modeling. You will work across portfolio companies, designing reusable data patterns and models. The role is ideal for an engineer who excels at both data infrastructure and applied machine learning.
Responsibilities

Build the data platform and models as reusable patterns across portfolio companies.
Build ingestion pipelines from heterogeneous sources (flat-file, SFTP, public registries).
Stand up judgment capture to turn decisions into labeled training data.
Lay groundwork for risk and recommendation models (feature engineering, evaluation, calibration).
Build validation, monitoring, and data lineage.
Enforce data-ownership bar in vendor decisions.
Partner with Forward-Deployed Engineer and shared IT/security teams.
Requirements
5+ years building data systems end-to-end (early or founding data hire experience).
Strong data engineering fundamentals: schema design, ETL/ELT, production PostgreSQL.
Experience integrating with messy enterprise systems and flat-file/SFTP feeds.
