GM's Vehicle AI Experiences team is seeking a Staff or Principal Software Engineer to build next-generation intelligent in-car experiences. The role focuses on product engineering using Kotlin and Android Automotive, integrating LLMs, NLU, and voice assistants into production-ready vehicle interfaces. Candidates will own features end-to-end, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor engineering teams while leveraging AI-assisted development workflows.
Responsibilities
- Define and build driver-facing AI capabilities from concept through production
- Write production Kotlin and contribute to Python-based agent definitions, NLU, and LLM orchestration
- Prototype and evaluate new experiences in realistic vehicle environments
- Partner with Product, UX, safety, and platform teams to ship reliable features
- Mentor engineers and establish reusable engineering patterns
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years (Staff) or 10+ years (Principal) shipping production software
- Strong hands-on skills in Kotlin, Java, C++, or Python
- Proven track record of delivering complex, user-facing features independently
- Experience leading technical work across organizational boundaries and using AI-assisted workflows
