Faire is a technology wholesale platform that uses data and machine learning to connect independent retailers with brands worldwide. We are seeking a Principal AI/ML Engineer to define the AI vision, prototype advanced AI systems (LLMs, generative AI, agent frameworks), and architect the AI-ready stack. This role reports directly to the CTO and involves driving company-wide AI strategy while remaining hands-on.

• Shape the AI vision in partnership with product, design, and engineering leadership.
• Prototype and deploy cutting-edge AI systems including LLM fine-tuning, RLHF, and agent frameworks.
• Define technical standards and evaluation frameworks for AI safety, reliability, and business impact.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to evolve data pipelines, ML serving stack, and developer tools.
• Mentor engineers and scientists across the organization.

• 10+ years of experience training and deploying ML models at scale.
• Deep expertise in LLMs and modern AI techniques: fine-tuning, RLHF, RAG, embeddings, agent frameworks.
• Strong systems background with large-scale data pipelines, feature stores, distributed training, and model serving.
• Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, Triton, or similar frameworks.
• Exceptional communication and influence skills.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience in two-sided marketplace ecosystems.
