About the Role
Diligent seeks a hands-on Director of AI Software Engineering to lead AI initiatives across GRC business units. This role involves building and scaling production AI systems, mentoring a team, and bridging engineering with business stakeholders. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of engineering experience with hands-on coding and a track record of shipping AI/ML systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead AI engineering across GRC, delivering AI-powered capabilities for risk analysis, compliance automation, reporting, and due diligence.
- Stay hands-on: contribute to architecture, code reviews, and critical path implementation. Prototype and validate new approaches (LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, classification pipelines).
- Build and scale teams: lead, mentor, and hire AI/ML and software engineers; drive culture of ownership and technical excellence.
- Drive execution of production-grade systems with speed and rigor; operate across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Communicate and influence: bridge engineering and business stakeholders; articulate trade-offs and align cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering with recent hands-on coding experience.
- Proven track record of shipping production systems at scale.
- Experience with modern AI/ML systems (LLMs, NLP, search, or data platforms).
