This Principal Software Engineer role is at a healthcare AI startup building intelligent agents for doctor-level and nurse-level tasks. You will architect and build core systems for AI-driven patient communication, triage, agent orchestration, and secure healthcare infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on production-grade systems at scale, with direct collaboration with founders.
Responsibilities
Design and scale AI-powered healthcare platforms and distributed systems
Build and optimize agent-based architectures and orchestration systems
Develop secure healthcare data infrastructure and enterprise integrations
Work on systems leveraging LLMs, AI agents, reinforcement learning, and modern AI technologies
Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and clinical accuracy
Collaborate closely with founders and a highly technical engineering team
Take ownership of technical decisions from architecture through deployment
Requirements
5+ years of experience building complex production-grade software systems
Strong backend engineering expertise, ideally with Python
Experience designing scalable distributed systems
Ability to transform ambiguous business requirements into robust technical solutions
Strong software architecture and systems design skills
