athenahealth is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to build the foundational platform for conversational AI agents within their healthcare ecosystem. This role involves designing scalable full-stack solutions using React, TypeScript, Java, and Spring Boot to support intelligent patient experience workflows. The engineer will implement vector search capabilities with PostgreSQL/pgvector and manage infrastructure via Kubernetes and Helm.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable cloud-native web applications and APIs for conversational AI platforms.
- Implement data access patterns using PostgreSQL with pgvector for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and similarity search.
- Build and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot (WebFlux), and frontend interfaces with React/TypeScript.
- Manage containerized deployments and orchestration using Kubernetes and Helm.
- Integrate observability tools like OpenTelemetry for system monitoring and incident response.
Requirements
- 8-15 years of professional software engineering experience.
