Astroscale UK is hiring a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join its UK-based Computer Vision team within the global Algorithms and Software Group. The role focuses on designing, developing, verifying, and deploying advanced computer vision algorithms and software for spacecraft and ground systems, including space object detection and tracking and 6DoF pose estimation. You will collaborate across Systems, GNC, and Flight Dynamics disciplines and help guide junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop computer vision algorithms for space object detection, tracking, and 6DoF pose estimation
- Define computer vision subsystem architectures, requirements, and performance budgets
- Plan and execute verification and validation, including HIL campaigns and integrated system testing
- Support integration and testing of flight software implementations of computer vision algorithms
- Support computer vision hardware procurement with vendors and supply chain
- Collaborate with Systems, GNC, and Flight Dynamics teams
- Review other engineers' work and mentor junior engineers
- Conduct state-of-the-art research into computer vision algorithm designs
- Contribute to FMECA and FDIR processes
