About the Role

Alice & Bob is developing a universal fault-tolerant quantum computer using cat qubits. As a Senior ML Engineer on the Performance Optimization team, you will lead the design and deployment of ML workflows to improve the quantum chip lifecycle. You will collaborate with quantum physicists and own the technical roadmap for ML components.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of complex ML workflows, architecting scalable and maintainable solutions
Collaborate with quantum physicists to identify bottlenecks and translate physical constraints into algorithmic requirements
Identify gaps in the ML stack and own the roadmap for core optimization components
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers in software design patterns
Contribute to cross-team engineering standards and reusable patterns

Requirements

5+ years of industry experience in ML Engineering or Software Engineering with ML focus, or PhD + 3 years
Proven track record of owning ML projects end-to-end from problem definition through production deployment
Advanced expertise in Python, PyTorch/JAX
Experience building production-grade software
Experience with MLOps tools, distributed training, or cloud infrastructure
Strong mathematical fluency in linear algebra and optimization
