9fin is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead the development of proprietary financial-domain LLMs that outperform general-purpose models. The role focuses on fine-tuning open-weight models (Llama, Mistral, etc.), synthetic data generation, and optimizing training/inference pipelines for global debt markets. You will drive end-to-end model lifecycle management while mentoring teammates in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Design and build generative AI applications for complex financial and legal workflows
• Drive end-to-end model development lifecycle including fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment
• Develop proprietary financial-domain models using open-weight LLMs like Llama and Qwen
• Implement rigorous benchmarking and regression testing frameworks for model performance
• Optimize model latency and cost through distillation, quantization, and GPU optimization

• Deep experience evaluating, adapting, and deploying open-weight models (Llama, Qwen, Mistral, Gemma)
• Expertise in supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, instruction tuning, and domain adaptation
• Strong proficiency in Python for production-ready delivery
• Experience with distributed training, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, and inference acceleration
