Synthesia is seeking a Senior Applied Research Engineer to develop production-grade foundation models for human-centric video generation. You will design and scale latent video diffusion models, optimize distributed training strategies, and improve inference efficiency to power realistic synthetic humans at scale. This role bridges advanced research with direct product impact, requiring strong expertise in deep learning and large-scale model deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and scale latent video diffusion models for human-centric generation
- Design conditioning mechanisms for pose, emotion, and camera control
- Advance distributed training strategies (DDP, FSDP, DeepSpeed) under compute constraints
- Optimize inference for low latency, high resolution, and cost efficiency
- Design evaluation frameworks combining automated metrics and human feedback
Requirements
- Strong experience training deep learning models at scale
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
- Hands-on experience with diffusion models (image domain required)
- Experience with large-scale multi-GPU/multi-node training
- Solid understanding of distributed training frameworks (DDP, FSDP, DeepSpeed)
