Senior Software Engineer - Agentic AI & API Platform

Workday is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of APIs and platform features for agentic AI and product engineering teams. The role involves driving API standards, performance improvements, and observability for mission-critical product flows.

• Lead end-to-end design and development of complex backend services and APIs; drive consensus with product managers and architects on API contracts; drive performance and scalability improvements; design and implement observability for product APIs; collaborate on frameworks and tools for API publishing; work with data platform teams; provide technical leadership through design reviews and coaching.

• 8+ years building large-scale backend systems; 5+ years with TypeScript or Python; 4+ years building and operating web service APIs at scale; experience owning complex systems from design to production.

• Experience with AI-assisted code generation tools; deep understanding of distributed systems; strong API design experience; experience with API gateway patterns; observability stacks; GraphQL; cloud and containerized environments; mentoring experience.
