Machine Learning (ML) Engineer at VIB.AI

VIB.AI is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to develop and deploy ML solutions for biomedical research. The role involves designing LLM-based solutions, collaborating with researchers, and leveraging high-performance computing resources. The ideal candidate has a PhD in ML or related field and experience with deep learning frameworks.

• Develop and deploy ML solutions in collaboration with researchers across VIB centers.
• Design, implement, and evaluate ML and foundation-model approaches, including LLM-based solutions, for scientific text mining, multimodal integration, and knowledge extraction.
• Collaborate with researchers to identify opportunities for generative AI in scientific progress.
• Translate pilot projects into practical tools within the ML Expertise Unit and VIB AI Studio.
• Promote ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI.
• Leverage VIB Data Core services including HPC pipelines and GPU resources.

• PhD in machine learning, computer science, computational biology, statistics, or related field.
• Knowledge of modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow).
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and communicate effectively.
• Strong interest in applying ML to life science problems.

• Experience developing AI applications for scientific or biomedical research, including LLM-based and agentic AI systems.
