About the Role
The University of Oxford's Centre for Medicines Discovery is seeking a Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products for drug discovery and translational science. This role involves implementing ETL workflows, ensuring FAIR-compliant data management, and collaborating with multidisciplinary scientific teams. The ideal candidate has strong Python and SQL skills, experience with containerisation and CI/CD, and an interest in biomedical data.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Research Informatics colleagues, data owners, and scientists to understand data requirements and deliver robust engineering solutions.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable ETL workflows, including automation, validation, quality checks, and workflow orchestration.
- Design, implement, and maintain novel methodologies, performant, robust, and scalable data products and services.
- Contribute to FAIR-compliant data management strategies, including improved metadata standards, interoperability, and data provenance.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases, contributing to schema design, modelling, optimisation, and integration.
- Keep detailed records and prepare accurate reports; support manuscript preparation and presentations on data engineering approaches.
- Engage in planning discussions and act as a source of information and advice on data management and analysis.
