The University of Edinburgh is seeking a Reader in Artificial Intelligence to join the School of Informatics. The role involves leading original research in cutting-edge AI methods, particularly at the intersection of perception and action, and contributing to teaching and supervision at undergraduate, MSc, and PhD levels. This is a permanent, full-time academic position based in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and lead original research in artificial intelligence, focusing on perception and action, agentic AI, world models, and related areas.
- Teach undergraduate and master's level courses in informatics and AI.
- Supervise undergraduate, MSc, and PhD student projects.
- Develop and maintain a strong research agenda, including publishing in top venues and securing funding.
- Contribute to the academic community and uphold the university's commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field (or close to completion).
- Strong research track record in artificial intelligence or related areas.
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for teaching and student supervision.
- Research interests aligned with perception, action, interactive decision-making, or related topics.
