Stryker is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to architect and build GenAI and voice agent systems for medical devices, deployed on both edge and cloud. The role focuses on making stochastic models behave predictably in regulated clinical environments by implementing deterministic guardrails, robust evaluation frameworks, and safety mechanisms. You will lead technical direction for multimodal agents (voice, text, vision) while ensuring compliance with FDA guidance and QMS standards.
Responsibilities
- Own technical direction for GenAI and multimodal agent capabilities across device software and cloud infrastructure.
- Architect stateful agentic systems with intent handling, tool calling, and deterministic safety boundaries.
- Design evaluation harnesses and test sets for task accuracy, robustness, and conversational quality.
- Develop real-time speech components (ASR/TTS) optimized for latency and memory constraints on medical hardware.
- Establish safety, bias, and performance metrics for regulatory submissions and QMS documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in CS, ML, EE, Biomedical Engineering, or Math; 4+ years AI/ML experience (or Master's + 2 years).
- Strong proficiency in Python; working knowledge of C++ for embedded integration preferred.
