About the Role
STR is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop AI/ML solutions for national security. The role involves turning research into production systems, building scalable backend services and UIs, and deploying across cloud, on-prem, mobile, and edge. Requires an active Secret clearance and 6+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with customers to translate mission needs into technical requirements
- Drive technical excellence and champion software engineering best practices
- Architect loosely coupled systems prioritizing interpretability and maintainability
- Bridge research and production by implementing novel capabilities
- Engineer robust backend services, scalable APIs, and optimized database models
- Develop polished user interfaces in collaboration with UI/UX designers
- Orchestrate deployment across cloud, desktop, mobile, edge, and air-gapped systems
- Build and optimize CI pipelines
- Contribute to full software development lifecycle including planning, code reviews, testing
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
- BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- 6+ years of professional software engineering and/or ML research experience
