AI Engineer, Special Programs

SpaceX is seeking an AI Engineer to join the Special Programs team, focusing on deploying AI capabilities for U.S. federal agencies. You will work with frontier models, build integrations, and collaborate with government stakeholders.

• Design, build, and optimize integrations between AI frontier models and government systems; Collaborate on custom SDKs, APIs, and developer tools; Partner with agency stakeholders to prototype solutions; Ship production-grade code.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.

• 1+ years hands-on experience building scalable systems, APIs, or AI/ML applications; Experience with large language models, generative AI, or agentic systems; Familiarity with government or public sector technology environments; Strong product sensibility; Excellent communication skills; Prior work on AI safety, governance, or responsible AI; Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, or API orchestration.
