About the Role

RedTech Recruitment is hiring a Machine Learning Research Engineer for an industry-leading software company in Cambridge, UK. The role focuses on investigating cutting-edge NLP and LLM research, prototyping new concepts, and determining feasibility and quality against other approaches. This position is ideal for a PhD-level researcher with published papers and strong classic machine learning expertise. The work is hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

Investigate the latest research in machine learning algorithms, largely within NLP along with some computer vision
Make suggestions based on research feasibility to help shape future projects and products
Prototype research concepts
Determine output quality, efficiency, and feasibility compared with other techniques

Requirements

PhD from a leading university in Computer Science, Physics, Maths, or similar; a PhD directly related to NLP is highly valued
Experience weighted more towards classic machine learning than AI engineering
Strong knowledge of LLMs, NLP, and Machine Learning / AI
Excellent academic record including a minimum 2.1 degree from a leading university and AAB at A-Level
Published papers
Good understanding of software engineering concepts
Experience with machine learning Python frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-Learn
