Protege is seeking a Founding ML Engineer to build and specialize LLM systems for enterprise workflows like KYB, legal review, and due diligence. This hands-on role involves fine-tuning models, building RAG pipelines, and integrating ML features into production using TypeScript backends. The ideal candidate has experience shipping end-to-end ML systems and thrives in an early-stage startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Fine-tune and evaluate LLMs against real customer workflows
- Build and maintain data pipelines for collection, labeling, and cleaning
- Ship ML features directly into the product surface alongside full-stack engineers
- Run structured experiments on prompting, retrieval, and fine-tuning approaches
- Partner with product and founding team to scope ML problems
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional ML engineering experience
- Hands-on experience fine-tuning LLMs and building RAG pipelines
- Comfortable working in TypeScript-based backends (Bun or Node.js)
- Experience with messy, real-world enterprise data
- Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with ambiguity
