OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Safety Systems team, focusing on building full-stack internal tools that enhance the safety and reliability of AI models. You will partner closely with researchers and policy teams to develop scalable platforms for risk measurement, safeguard enforcement, and failure case analysis. Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development of internal safety tooling for vulnerable-user protections
- Partner with researchers and policy creators to translate workflows into durable product solutions
- Build full-stack experiences for data labeling, inspection, and failure case analysis
- Optimize applications for usability, speed, and scale to accelerate safety issue resolution
- Evolve AI-assisted safety workflows into external-facing products for developers
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience at tech-driven companies
- Proficiency in JavaScript, React, and modern web technologies
- Strong backend skills in Python
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Passion for AI/ML and cross-functional collaboration with researchers and policy teams
