About the Role

Niantic Spatial is building the future of physical AI with a proprietary geospatial database of over 30 billion posed images. As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, you will own key parts of the localization technology, including the Visual Positioning System (VPS) and 3D mapping pipelines. This role bridges R&D and production, turning complex geospatial data into spatial AI experiences.

Responsibilities

System Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain production-grade computer vision systems for VPS and 3D mapping.
Algorithmic Innovation: Refine and scale algorithms for VPS including SfM, feed-forward models, and feature extraction.
Performance Engineering: Optimize ML and CV code for low-latency, high-performance execution on GPU/CPU in cloud and mobile.
Benchmarking & Evaluation: Create tools and frameworks to evaluate spatial grounding and 3D map quality.
Technical Leadership: Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and resolve technical disagreements.
Cross-Functional Delivery: Collaborate with Product, Research, and Operations to translate CV solutions into user experiences.

Requirements

Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Vision, or related field.
Years of Experience: 5+ years developing and shipping algorithms for image processing, computer vision, or 3D reconstruction.
