Join an early-stage AI infrastructure spin-out from a leading UK university as an ML Systems Engineer. You will own the software-side modelling and benchmarking workstream, building digital twins and evaluation frameworks to validate a persistent knowledge layer for agentic AI. Work directly with the CTO to generate technical evidence for pilots, fundraising, and internal validation.
Responsibilities
- Lead software modelling to assess system behaviour before dedicated hardware is available, maintaining the digital twin used for evaluation.
- Develop agentic AI and GraphRAG workloads that demonstrate measurable system-level improvements.
- Build and maintain a benchmarking suite tracking latency, GPU utilisation, token reduction, throughput, and cost per query.
- Design experiments to isolate the effect of the semantic memory layer on inference performance.
- Create enterprise knowledge graph datasets and define evaluation approaches.
- Partner with hardware and systems teams to keep the software model aligned with platform capabilities.
- Generate technical evidence for customer pilots, investor discussions, and internal validation.
- Work directly with the CTO as the main owner of the software modelling and benchmarking stream.
