Expedia Group seeks a Senior AI/ML Data Engineer to build and maintain the data foundations powering Layla’s AI-native travel planning experiences. You will design scalable data pipelines, ensure data quality and observability, and support experimentation and model evaluation for production AI systems. This role combines advanced data engineering with close collaboration across product, analytics, and ML teams to drive impactful traveler experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable data pipelines for AI-native trip-planning and booking experiences
- Own data quality, reliability, and observability across critical datasets
- Build and support data foundations for experimentation and model evaluation
- Enable production use of AI/ML systems through feature/data availability and monitoring
- Partner with Product, Analytics, and ML teams to deliver dependable data solutions
- Mentor engineers and advocate for data engineering excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in data engineering
- Strong expertise in advanced SQL, data modeling, and production data pipelines
