Etsy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and operate the core infrastructure for training, hosting, and serving machine learning models. This role focuses on creating scalable, reliable, and observable systems for both classic ML predictors and large open-source LLMs, enabling applied scientists across the organization. The position involves architecting high-performance serving endpoints and optimizing resource management on Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate infrastructure for ML model training and serving on GCP and Kubernetes.
- Design and maintain serving infrastructure for open-source and internally hosted LLMs.
- Write production-grade Python code and participate in architectural decisions.
- Partner with Applied Scientists to translate model needs into frictionless infrastructure.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and observability for millions of inferences per second.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building complex backend and infrastructure systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing).
