The Ellison Institute of Technology seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to build and operate the cloud and compute foundation for its scientific computing team. The role focuses on resilient infrastructure, including full-sized GPU clusters, auditable CI/CD and GitOps pipelines, and Policy-as-Code governance. You will partner with research and data teams to enable self-service workloads from Python notebooks to distributed clusters.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and operate cloud platform infrastructure including resilient compute, network, storage, and GPU clusters
- Implement auditable CI/CD and GitOps delivery pipelines for repeatable infrastructure changes
- Deploy automated governance and security controls using Policy-as-Code (Kyverno, YAML)
- Establish monitoring, alerting, telemetry, and SLO frameworks to enable future SRE work
- Build self-service capabilities supporting research and data workloads
Requirements
- Proven platform engineering experience with a track record of automating operational processes
- Expertise with at least one major cloud provider (OCI, AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficiency with Terraform for declarative infrastructure provisioning
- Experience operating large-scale, resilient Kubernetes clusters
