Software Engineer, Machine Learning Infrastructure - Gen AI

DoorDash's GenAI Platform team builds shared infrastructure for Generative AI products. This role involves designing and operating systems for LLM gateways, agent orchestration, model serving, and evaluation. You'll work across backend services and ML infrastructure to accelerate GenAI adoption.

• Build infrastructure to move GenAI ideas from prototype to production.
• Work on production GenAI platform surfaces including LLM Gateway, Agent Gateway, evals infrastructure, open-weights model serving, batch inference, guardrails, and cost attribution.
• Design scalable systems for AI agents, MCP/tool orchestration, retrieval, batch inference, model serving, and evaluation workflows.
• Help product teams choose model and vendor strategy.
• Build platforms for rapid experimentation while meeting production standards.

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 4+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals in Python and distributed systems.
• Experience building production services, APIs, data pipelines, or ML infrastructure at scale.
• Experience operating systems in production including observability, debugging, and incident response.
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows such as inference, evaluation, model serving, or experimentation.
