Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Perception Lead to drive the technical direction of computer vision and sensor fusion algorithm development for autonomous navigation and situational awareness in next-generation space systems. This role involves architecting perception pipelines, leading algorithm development, and collaborating across teams to integrate perception into flight systems. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in computer vision, sensor fusion, and autonomous systems, with a focus on mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of perception algorithms; Architect and implement computer vision and sensor fusion pipelines; Define technical strategy for perception subsystems; Drive algorithm development for object detection, tracking, classification; Establish best practices for testing and V&V; Collaborate cross-functionally with autonomy, GN&C, avionics; Support HITL, SITL, field and flight tests; Mentor and guide junior engineers; Communicate technical findings to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field; 8+ years experience in computer vision, sensor fusion for autonomous systems; Technical leadership experience; Proficiency in C++ and Python; Hands-on experience with sensor fusion (Kalman filtering, particle filtering); Object detection, tracking, classification; Real-time embedded software; U.S. citizenship required; Ability to obtain security clearance.
