Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Generative AI Engineer to develop and align large language models tailored for materials science and hardware design. Responsibilities
- Develop, pretrain, fine-tune, and align LLMs for scientific and materials science workflows.
- Innovate post-training methods and evaluation protocols for robust, trustworthy domain-specific models.
- Design generative approaches to accelerate materials discovery and hypothesis generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate frontier AI research into high-value applications.
- Build and curate scientific datasets, benchmarks, and evaluation standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative research culture.
Requirements
- MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and generative AI.
- Hands-on experience with LLM pretraining, supervised fine-tuning (SFT), and alignment techniques like RLHF.
