Staff-Software Engineer

American Express seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and scaling of platforms for brand engagement and customer experiences. The role involves technical leadership across front-end, back-end, and data systems, with a focus on AI capabilities and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and generative AI.

• Lead design of scalable, resilient systems across web and mobile, APIs, services, data pipelines.
• Drive architecture decisions for event-driven systems and ensure operational reliability.
• Oversee code quality, design reviews, CI/CD practices, and mentoring of engineers.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive experience building distributed applications and large-scale enterprise products.
• Full-stack expertise with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, Python, PySpark, Big Query, Hive, Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and containerization.
• Experience with Generative AI (LLMs, embeddings, prompt workflows).
• Knowledge of observability and SRE practices.

• Familiarity with Adobe Marketing and Creative suite.
