The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge seeks two Research Assistants/Associates for a 24-month project establishing "red lines" for AI using cognitive capability and propensity profiles. The role centers on AI Evaluation, drawing on artificial intelligence, technical AI safety, Bayesian statistics, causal modelling, psychology, and AI governance. This is a postdoctoral-level, on-site position in Cambridge, UK.
Responsibilities
- Conduct AI evaluation research on cognitive capability and propensity profiles
- Develop methods to establish "red lines" for AI systems
- Draw on Bayesian statistics and causal modelling approaches
- Collaborate across disciplines including AI safety, psychology, and governance
Requirements
- PhD (or submitted PhD) for Research Associate level; Research Assistant level for pre-award candidates
- Background in artificial intelligence, technical AI safety, or related fields
- Experience with Bayesian statistics and/or causal modelling
- Interdisciplinary research aptitude
