Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist

UBC's AI in Medicine Lab seeks a Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist to develop ML infrastructure for cancer imaging, drug development, and bioinformatics. The role involves implementing algorithms for medical image analysis, genomics, and protein-ligand binding using advanced models like AlphaFold. This is a 1-year term position with possibility of extension.

• Conduct literature reviews on medical imaging, genomics, and drug analysis to evaluate ML applications.
• Design and develop ML models for medical imaging, bioinformatics (including single cell and spatial omics), and drug development.
• Analyze tissue images and protein-ligand binding affinity using advanced algorithms such as AlphaFold and foundation models.
• Modify and tune programming modules to integrate with image management platforms.
• Analyze results, document, and prepare reports.

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience.
• Experience with machine learning, medical imaging, bioinformatics, or drug development.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives.

• Experience with genomics data including single cell and spatial omics.
