Toast is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to drive architecture and implementation of AI agents for the Team area within Fintech. This role involves leading agent development, mentoring technical leaders, and collaborating with product and engineering teams. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in distributed systems and a passion for building autonomous agents.
Responsibilities
- Develop and drive an architectural vision for agents and agent development
- Be an active participant in FinTech product strategy discussions
- Partner with engineering and product leaders to deliver Team agent products
- Work with other Senior Principal Engineers to expand agent patterns across Toast
- Evolve efficient agent-driven workflows
- Work directly with product manager for Team Agent space
- Be hands-on in development
- Mentor technical leadership across Team and Fintech
Requirements
- 15+ years experience designing and building highly scalable distributed and fullstack systems
- 10+ years building and operating SaaS products, ideally AWS hosted
- 1+ years experience using latest coding agents
- Strong desire to lean into agentic development practices
