AI Engineer

SLR is seeking an AI Development Engineer who enjoys building AI systems that operate reliably in the real world. This role focuses on designing and implementing production-grade systems powered by large language models (LLMs). You will work hands-on across the full delivery lifecycle, from concept to prototype to production, collaborating with product, engineering, and data teams. Success is defined by your ability to design, implement, deploy, and operate real systems that deliver business value.

• Build AI systems using LLM APIs, vector databases, and agent orchestration frameworks
• Implement AI infrastructure including API services, orchestration layers, retrieval pipelines, and monitoring
• Develop MCP and tool integration layers for models to interact with external systems
• Ship production code: prototype to deployment, writing clean and maintainable backend code
• Collaborate across teams to turn ideas into working solutions

• Strong backend engineering experience with Python or TypeScript
• Experience building REST APIs and backend services
• Solid system design fundamentals and debugging skills
• Experience with LLM applications: prompt engineering, tool use, RAG, and evaluation
• Hands-on experience deploying production systems with Docker, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD
• Experience with vector databases and retrieval systems
