Pax Historia is seeking a Founding Engineer to architect and maintain the LLM infrastructure that powers its interactive entertainment platform. You will own the reliability, cost-efficiency, and latency of processing over 30 billion monthly tokens across 37+ AI providers. This role focuses on API routing, caching, monitoring, and structured outputs rather than model training.
Responsibilities
- Ensure reliable performance for 37+ AI models handling 30B+ monthly tokens
- Optimize costs and latency for 60k+ daily active users
- Build and maintain provider routing, caching, and monitoring systems
- Implement structured outputs and improve overall request reliability
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and rapid learning ability
- Experience building scalable backend systems and complex API integrations
- Data-oriented mindset with rigorous attention to detail and verification
- Proven track record thriving in fast-paced, early-stage startup environments

- Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks or multi-provider routing strategies
