Helsing, a defence AI company, seeks an AI Research Engineer to research, design, and train large-scale foundational models for autonomous capabilities. The role focuses on training and fine-tuning Vision-Language Models using custom datasets, covering the entire model lifecycle from data curation to evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and train large-scale Foundational Models for multimodal sensor data
- Fine-tune Vision-Language Models on custom datasets
- Manage the entire model lifecycle: data curation, training, and evaluation
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or Mathematics with a focus on Deep Learning
- Theoretical understanding and practical experience in training foundational models (LLMs, VLMs, multimodal)
- Strong software engineering skills in Python and fluency with PyTorch/JAX
- Clear communicator with a first-principles mindset
Nice to Have
- Top-tier research track record with publications in NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL on attention mechanisms, efficient transformers, or multimodal learning
